My Creative Space

Do you ever get those weeks when all you seem to achieve in your creative space is day dreaming, mending, ......and curtains......as is my case at the moment! Not so creative hey? But I have enjoyed making a few little mends and adjustments to these two dresses. This one I bought recently from my local Vinnie's. It fits like a glove and will be perfect for summer hippy festivals:) I love to dress-up when I get the opportunity. Aren't the little flowers pretty. Cost $2.

And this one I bought in 'The Real McCoy' in Exeter when I was home last. The Real McCoy was a cool little retro clothes shop I've frequented since I was a teenager when it was cool to just hang out there listening to the funky music whilst spending hours rummaging through the cheaper 'jumble sale' style tables of clothes, shoes, accessories and home textiles. They also had racks of picket out best bits. I used to get my 'boys fit' old 501's and vintage t-shirts there. Sadly now it's abit more organised, fake and sells bad 'new retro' too. It just isn't the same but hey always worth a lookie, you never know and they do good food in the cafe. Cost 20 quid.

Mum tells me she had one like this when I was a baby, circa early 1970's. The pockets are real cute, perfect size for hands and hankies but needed a few stitches where they were ripped. I also need to take it in heaps. I wore it to glastonbury festival last year and felt like I was wearing a sack. I'll do new side seams and then move the straps over maybe? It's worth the effort. It's made from a lovely cotton twill that age has made hang well. Another festival great as it looks super sweet with flip-flops or my wellies (traditional green Hunters).

Those of you lovely readers who've visited before will know that we'll soon be heading off on our road trip. So I'm thinking that maybe I should make the effort to take a look around Ballarat, Daylesford and Bendigo areas. I've not been to that part of Victoria before and get the feeling that there are lots of cool little towns and shops/cafes worth visiting? Can I justify the detour to mr kim? Please help me out here ladies, I need suggestions. The "why do you want to go there"? answer from me "just cos" isn't working. Where would I go if I was there? Do you have any reccomendations? Maybe a list would prove more successful than "just cos"!

Over here you can read about more creative spaces.

Firstly may I say what a lovely blog you have!! I wonder how I haven't come across you before. I love all the colours and the happy feel of your space. Your dresses look gorgeous, wish it was the weather to wear them! I see you live in Tassie. My brother & family moved there recently so I'm quite fascinated by it at the moment. I live in Daylesford so email me if you want any more info about the local area. Definitely worth a day trip or more. Bye for now, xo

Ok I may be a bit biased coming from the Bendigo area, but you MUST make the effort to check it out. Bob boutique is a must, and Lark in Daylesford. Don't forget Piper Street in Kyneton if you are up this way, and the Castlemaine Art market is worth a look too. Love your blog and the little village bags you make are just stunning!

Bendigo is like my third home (inlaws live there) so I love the place. It has wonderful old workers cottages, and a magnificent cathedral, and the shops are just gorgeous. If you knit or crochet the wool mill is there! And Bendigo Pottery is fantastic ...

Just do it!

Love those sweet little dresses. They were great finds!

Lovely dresses, my favourite the $2 one with the pretty flowers. I live in Ballarat and would suggest visiting Sovereign Hill but you should really allow one day to make it really worth while. There are picnic spots etc so we usually take along a packed lunch. As previosly mentioned Daylesford is another great place to visit and the LARK shop. Sounds like alot of fun.
