But at this time of year the sun beats in the kitchen window and hits Maggie right in the eyes at exactly breakfast time. Not good when she's concentrating on eating her yummy porridge........"goway" she says trying to push the sun out of her eyes. So time for some window furnishings. I eventually managed to pursuade Michelle to sell me some of this gorgeous fabric she found up a while ago.
It was actually a table cloth made from six blocks sewn together. Not ideal as I had to cut them all up and regig them for what I wanted. But isn't the print just gorgeous, well worth the effort. I'd love to know who designed it. It looks 'old' but of course it could be a good repro from someone like Ikea.
I'll make a roman blind with batten and dowels. I've made heaps of these over the years out of all sorts of things like scarves, tableclothes, sheets etc. It's such an inexpensive and easy way to dress a window. This one I'll line with blackout to prevent it from fading. Have a look at this excellent video tutorial if you want to make one too. And of course, don't forget to check out Kirsty's links too.

Very funky fabric! What a view out your kitchen window! Lucky you :)
That fabric is just awesome - now if I could just get you to part with some .... !!! Just been looking down your post and how exciting does the road trip sound?! We've been toying with the idea of a caravan but I've never been on one before but it seems like such a great idea - especially in countries like Australia and NZ. Good luck with the refurb. x
my twoyearold's favorite new saying is GOAWAY! i love it...what a stunning view youve got. people pay lots of money for a vacation view like that one! xx
I just found your blog from Belle & Boo. Oh I LOVE that fabric but I must say I love your view even more :) Your caravan re-furb looks fantastic, have a great trip. Catherine x
